Time for Accountability

 

Now is the time, like never before
To hold mankind accountable when their actions cause uproar.
No more turning the other way
When injustice takes center stage.
No more being quiet
When everyone should be enraged.
People are dying
At the hands of those who should protect.
Skin color should not be a death sentence.
All people deserve respect.
As a former police officer
I know they all aren't bad.
But accountability is something
That some departments have never had.
Stop shifting the blame
When officers make bad decisions
Start implementing new training
Start making much needed revisions.
We need higher standards
Of those selected to serve.
There are no more excuses
For all excuses have been heard.
