Muscle Memory
Many people can read the directions for assembling a piece of furniture or interpret the installation instructions for a piece of equipment with no difficulty at all. Some people can watch a video of how to do something and immediately recreate what they observed. Then there are people like me who have to read about it, see a demonstration and then do it for themselves in order to become proficient at the task. After I read it, watch it, and do it numerous times, I can usually complete the task easily and retain the information long term. Completing these actions over and over again creates muscle memory which is the ability to reproduce a particular movement without conscious thought. The same principle applies with creating a successful relationship whether it's a business relationship or a personal relationship. In business we study the fields related to our business to determine what works then set practices in place accordingly. In our personal relationships we observe our partner to determine their likes and dislikes and make adjustments that creates a pattern to follow and that pattern will help us to stay on track of our goals for a healthy relationship. We have to keep reinforcing our muscle memory so that we ensure that the appropriate patterns are being followed. Read great relationship material, watch the behaviors of couples that we admire then do the things that help our relationships to thrive. Work out your muscle memory every day and you will see a strong, happy, and love-filled relationship develop before your very eyes.
